1 Whyalla Beach
Whyalla Barson 5601, SA

On the southern side of the rock jetty is the main 1.8km long southeast facing Whyalla beach (596), site of the Whyalla surf club and the focal point for water based recreation at Whyalla. The beach is backed by a continuous seawall and road, with a large foreshore park, also site of a Foreshore Centre offering a range of facilities, with picnic and bar-b-que facilities backing the northern half, and a caravan park behind the southern half. The jetty forms the northern boundary, while the southern end grades into mangroves. The beach consists of a narrow high tide beach, which contains several shade shelters, and 500m to 1000‚ m wide, flat sand flats, that are exposed at low tide.

You should only swim at the main beach and then at high tide, as a mid- to low-tide it is a long walk to waist deep water. So check the tide times before you go to the beach..
