Sandon Point Beach

Sandon Point Beach

1 Bulli
Bulli 2516, NSW

Sandon Point Beach (NSW 365) sweeps in an east-facing arc for 900 m between Bulli (Sandon) and Waniora points; the latter extending as a reef a further 500 m out to sea. At the northern end a large car park backs the Sandon Point SLSC (the newest in the area, founded in 1959). A road runs the length of the beach across Slacky Creek and past Bulli Park to the residential area in the south with good access via walkways provided the length of the beach. Waves average 1 m in the north, dropping to 0.5 m in lee of the southern point and reefs. As a result the bar is usually attached the length of the beach with 2-3 rips forming along the northern half (Fig. 4.287 & 4.288), however even these infill during periods of low waves.
While the southern end is usually quieter it is still best to swim in the northern patrolled area. Stay on the bar and avoid the occasional rip, particularly against the northern rocks.
