1 Port Beach
North Fremantle 6159, WA
Port Beach (WA 835) commences on the southern side of Leighton Beach and gently curves to the south for 1 km. Port averages 1 m waves and usually has an attached low tide bar, which is cut by rips during and following periods of higher waves. Higher waves also produce a beach break called Sandtracks towards the southern end of the beach. The beach is monitored by the Fremantle Surf Life Saving Club on weekends and public holidays in summer. This is a popular beach with good access and a large car park surrounding a central kiosk and restaurant, and a lifesaving watchtower. Port Surf Life Saving Club operated at Port Beach between 1958 and 1976, when it was amalgamated with Fremantle SLSC, with the watchtower continuing to provide lifesaving services.
