1 Hyams Beach
Hyams Beach 2540, NSW
The main Hyams Beach (NSW 433) curves for 2.8 km south, then southeast to Captains Point. It is only accessible from a car park at the northern end, with the southern 300 m located in HMAS Creswell. The beach is backed by a few houses in the north, then densely vegetated slopes along the northern 1 km, with a low narrow foredune and backing swamp behind the southern half, the swamp drained by Flat Rock Creek in the southern corner. The white sand beach is moderately steep and usually cusped and reflective, with seagrass lying 100 m offshore. The southern corner is afforded additional protection from the breakwaters of the small harbour on Captains Point.
All three beaches receive usually low waves, though the steep reflective shore drops off into deeper water.
