1 Holloways Beach
Holloways Beach 4878, QLD

Holloway Beach is one of three beaches that form the northern shoreline of the Barron River delta. The beach is very much part of the delta, with Richters and Barr Creeks forming the northern and southern boundaries of the 2.5 km long beach. The beach and backing settlement is, in fact, surrounded by creeks and mangrove flats associated with the delta. The beach lies 5 km off the highway and is backed for the most part by residential development, with good road access the length of the beach. The beach faces north-east and is composed of medium sand that produces a relatively steep high tide beach, fronted by a low tide bar. The bar grades into the very extensive intertidal flats toward the two creek mouths.

The best swimming is at mid to high tide, as the sand flats are exposed and very shallow at low tide. A stinger enclosure operates during the summer season.
