1 Grants Beach
Grants Beach 2445, NSW

Grants Beach (NSW 178) also known as North Haven Beach, continues south from the 200 m wide boundary head for 3.2 km to the northern entrance wall for Camden Haven. It is backed by a vegetated foredune and sandy barrier, that was mined for heavy minerals in the 1960s, then Ocean Drive located about 500 m inland. The beach is composed of fine sand that produces a wide low gradient swash zone, and together with the waves averaging 1.6 m, maintain a double bar system (Fig. 4.98). The inner bar is usually cut by several rips, with a trough and widely spaced outer bar rips further out. A permanent rip runs out by the entrance wall. A large caravan park is located behind the southern end together with Camden Haven SLSC, two car parks and a picnic area. The nearby towns of North Haven and Laurieton are popular summer holiday destinations with numerous motels, caravan parks and all facilities. Camden Haven also supports a small fishing fleet.
Best in the south in the patrolled area. Rips dominate both beaches, together with permanent rips against the boundary headland and North Wall.
