1 Bulli Beach
Woonona East 2517, NSW

Bulli Beach (NSW 366) is a relatively straight 950 m long, south-southeast facing beach that extends south from 5 m high Waniora Point to the even lower Flat Rock. The Bulli SLSC (founded 1916) is located on the southern side of the northern headland with a commanding view down the beach. Next to the surf club is a large park, then the small Whartons Creek crosses the beach south of the clubhouse, with a caravan park behind the centre and a park and playing fields behind the southern half. All are connected by a walking/bike path, with vehicle access in the south from Woonona. The entire beach is exposed to waves averaging 1.5 m, which usually maintain 4-6 rips, including permanent rips against the rocks at either end, and 2-4 shifting beach rips (Figs. 4.289 & 4.290). The intervening bars are usually attached to the beach, but are separated by a trough during and following periods of high waves; conditions that can also generate a second outer bar running the length of the beach. Rock pools are located on both rock platforms.

Because of the persistent rips stay at the north end between the flags or use the pools.
