One Lap Down - One To Go!

In an action packed day of swimming across the nation the Australia Swims movement has officially reached it's goal - we have collectively swum a full lap of Australia!

Australian Open Water Championships - Brighton Beach, South Australia

Day two of the Open Water Champs saw Australia's best open water swimmers take to the beach at the Brighton South Australia to fight it out over the 2.5 and 5km events.

For the 15years boys Thomas Raymond of Nudgee took home the crown for the 5km while Hunter’s Cassandra Fayers wins 15years for the girls.

The 16 - 17years boys went to Matthew Galea of Blacktown City.

The JX Clinic was also a great hit with Breahna Burgess first over the line in the mixed 12 - 14 2.5km event followed closely by Charlie Gray.

Queenscliff 180 Family Swim

Meanwhile in Victoria, novices and elites alike took to the water in picturesque Queenscliff in the annual Queenscliff 180 event.

Local legend and seven-time Pier to Pub winner Sam Sheppard played the part of Race Director for the day and Masterchef icon Matt Preston attended as Race Starter, as a part of his campaign to get more Aussies swimming.

The women's 1km was a classic case of sibling rivalry, Kelly Stubbins took first followed by sister Kristine Stubbins in third with Christine Poh in second.
