Jawbone Marine Sanctuary, Williamstown.

Often overlooked in favour of the beach, Jawbone Marine Sanctuary boasts 30ha of protected waters. Originally fenced off to the public for over 80 years, the area is now a hot spot for coastal and marine life. Ideal for snorkelling or scuba diving, the sanctuary is home to jelly fish, sea stars and numerous other underwater critters.

Fairy Cove, Wilson’s Promontory.

Wilson’s Prom in Victoria’s Gippsland region is home to many a good swimming location, and Fairy Cove is no exception.

Only accessible from walks departing from the Darby River and Darby Saddle carparks, Fairy Cove is one of Victoria’s best kept secrets. The walk may seem aunting but the stunning panoramic views, white sand beach and cool water is well worth it.

Pack your togs, a picnic and plenty of water, Fairy Cove is not to be missed.

The Rock Pools, Blairgowrie.

Situated on the back beach in Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula, the rock pools offer something for everyone. A towering sandstone rock aptly named ‘the jumping rock’ will catch the eye of many, but for those with a less adventurous side, there’s a natural plunge pool to enjoy. Coming in all different shapes and sizes, filled with different sea creatures the pools are a great place to snorkel.
