Robbie's remarkable resilience
This weekend’s Mt Martha Australia Day Swim (MMAD) will mark a momentous occasion for peninsula local, Robbie Peime.
More than a decade ago his life was turned upside down by a motorbike accident which left him in a wheelchair, however that hasn’t stopped him achieving some remarkable goals, including formidable Ironman challenges and competing in triathlons.

The Ocean Pool Challenge is back!
After successfully holding its first Ocean Pool Challenge in 2018, the West Illawarra Aquatic Swim Club will this year run the event on Monday 21 January, to coincide with Australia Swims.
'DJ Louderstein' takes Portsea plunge
Freely admitting he hasn’t “rolled his arms over in while”, Olympic medallist Andrew Lauterstein will jump in the ocean on Saturday to compete in the Portsea Swim Classic.
Commencing from Fisherman’s beach, the 1.5km swim will see participants head west around Police Point along the coast and finish at Jarman Oval at the historic Quarantine Station in the Point Nepean National Park.

Summer is here and to celebrate Swimming Australia is encouraging all Australians to revel in their love of the water and through the Australia Swims campaign pledge their swimming distances to swim a virtual lap around Australia from 19-28 January.
Lap Australia Challenge - Sydney bound
Australians have pledged their swims to the Lap Australia challenge, designed to get Australians swimming this summer. Whether you prefer laps in a pool, and open water swim, a splash at the beach or a snorkel at the reef, everyone can take part. In a new evolution of the challenge, for 2019 you can pledge your support to a team, led by an inspiring captain, supporting a terrific cause.
The current progress on the challenge, sees over 2,400 km's in swim pledges, but there are many more to come. The collective distance puts the virtual lap near Sydney.
